Dr. Anne Margaret Smith set up ELT well in 2005 in order to bridge the gap between the two fields of education that she is passionate about:
English Language Teaching and
support for learners with SpLDs (such as dyslexia).

For teachers, ELT well offers training and education, and resources for inclusive language teaching.
Learners can access holistic assessments of their cognitive functions, regardless of their first language, as well as individual tuition to develop language and study skills.
ELT well is also a research-active organisation, as we believe that good teaching practice is based on research, and that teachers and researchers should work together as much as possible.
ELT well is based in Lancaster (in the north west of England), but the services offered are available to anybody, wherever you are. Whether you are:
- an English language teacher looking for advice about a student who is not making progress as expected,
- a language learner looking for inspiration and support, or
- a dyslexia professional looking for ways of working with multilingual learners
ELT well can help.
